ながいつぶやき(130) どこでも文章を書ける I Can Write It Anywhere

文章を書くならできる限りラップトップで書きたい。つまり比較的大きい、落ち着きのあるもので書きたい。

今この文章は、バスの中で、スマートフォンを使って書いている。僕は比較的スマートフォンを使って文章を打つのが早いので、ラップトップを使って文章を打つ場合と、文章生成のスピードはあまり変わらない。

むしろ、画面が小さく、複数の画面を同時に開くこともできないから、かえって集中できている。

スマートフォンを、極小のコンピュータと言い換えてみる。言葉のあやではなく、事実である。すると、真面目な文章を打っていても、少し落ち着く。

部屋にある大きなデスクを売ろうかどうか迷っている。お金になったら嬉しい。生活費を稼ぐ時間を別のことにあてられるから。もう一つ大きな理由としては、部屋にさらなるスペースが欲しいから。

僕の部屋にはテーブルが合計3つある。

ひとつは今言った大きな、両手を広げて抱えられるぐらいの大きさの、重さ30kgのデスク。

もう2つは、折り畳み式のパイン材テーブル。低いもの、高いもので1つずつ。

最近のメインはそのうち高いほう。上面の広さは十分で、軽い。部屋の中の日のあたりに合わせてすぐに移動できるところがいい。折り畳めば家具の隙間に入れられるので、さらにスペースができるところもいい。

一番大きい無垢のオーク材デスクは、5年以上憧れていたものを引越しのタイミングで買ったものだ。中古で少し安く手に入れて、家に着いた時には近所に住んでいるふじくんを呼んで一緒に組み立てた。

平たい、重厚感のある板をただ組み合わせただけの質実剛健なデザインは思った通りとてもよくて、肌触りもいいのでその上に突っ伏して幸せを感じた。

このデスクを、売ろうかどうか迷っている。

I Can Write It Anywhere

When I write something, I want to write on a laptop when possible. That is, I want to write on something relatively large and comfortable.

I'm currently writing this text on the bus, using my smartphone. I'm relatively fast at typing on my phone, so the speed of text generation is not much different from that of typing on my laptop.

In fact, the screen is so small that I can't have multiple screens open at the same time, which helps me concentrate on what I write.

Let's say that a smartphone is a tiny computer. It's not a figure of speech, but a fact. This makes me feel a little more relaxed even when I'm typing a serious sentence.

I'm wondering if I should sell the large desk in my room. I'd be happy to get some money for it. Then I can spend my time earning money for living on other things instead. Another big reason is that I need more space in my room.

I have a total of three tables in my room.

One is the large one I mentioned, big enough to hold with both hands and weighing 30kg.

The other two are foldable pine wood tables. One low and one high.

The main one these days is the higher of the two. The top surface is large enough and the desk itself is light enough as well. I like the fact that I can move it around quickly to catch the daylight in the room. I also like the fact that I can fold it up and put it in a space between pieces of furniture to make more space.

The largest one (solid oak desk from MUJI) is one that I had been longing for for over five years, and I bought it when I moved. I got it used for a little cheaper price, and when it arrived home, I called Fuji-kun, who lives nearby, and we assembled it together.

The quality and sturdy design of just a combination of flat, heavy boards was very good as I expected, and the texture was so nice that I felt happy simply by putting my face on it.

I'm considering selling this large desk.
